Happy Friday,

I have quite a few announcements for you.

Tonight, Friday the 15th at 7:00 PM, the West Desert Symphony will be performing at our building.  Admission is free.

Our service project will be tomorrow, Saturday the 16th.  We will meet at 9:45 at the Legacy House.  1517 West Temple Lane, South Jordan, Utah.  Parents, please pick up your students at 11:15.

We have free tickets to a Utah Jazz pre-season game.  The game is on Tuesday, the 19th at 7:00 PM.  Due to a limited number of tickets, only students from 5th grade and up were invited.  All of the tickets have been spoken for.  We will meet at the school at 5:45, and then we will car pool to the Delta Center.  Several teachers are going with as chaperones, and all of our seats are together.  Please watch for a permission slip today.  We need a parent to sign it and send it back to the school before the event.  Thank You.

We will be holding a long range planning meeting for the school on Wednesday the 20th.  The meeting will start at 3:00.  The main topics for consideration will be school finance and curriculum.

Our homecoming dance will be on Friday the 23rd.  It will begin at 7:00 PM.

On Wednesday the 27th we will be having a pumpkin painting contest.  Please send your student to school with a pumpkin.  This activity is for all ages.

We are starting a drama club for middle and high school age students.  It is being led by Drew Keddington, a professional actor.  Their first meeting will be right after school on Wednesday the 27th.

On October 29th, the 5-8 graders will be going on a field trip to the BYU Museum of Peoples and Cultures.  The field trip will be the culmination of a cross-curricular project involving Spanish and art.  The project will be teaching students about the Andean regions of Central and South America.  Watch for permission slips to attend the field trip.

October 29th is the end of the first quarter of school.

Anyone interested in car pooling?  If so, please call our office and speak with Kay Higginson.

Basketball practice will continue to be every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Parents, please remember that the purpose of our uniforms is to reduce social tension and create a better learning environment.  If students arrive wearing excessive or distracting jewelry, we will ask them to remove it.  Please help us to maintain our standards.

                                                           Thanks for everything!
